9 Mar: Thursday, colonoscopy day.

No pics. I started at 7, and continued my colonoscopy prep.  Another four ounces of polyethylene glycol mixed with light green Gatorade. Nothing in my stomach after 8 am. Shat twice more before going to the doctor's office. They were almost completely clear liquid bowel movements. Which is exactly what is required. For the gastroenterologist to see anything, the colon has to be clear...of everything.

Procedure at noon. And...my colonoscopy came back clear. One small polyp was removed (will be sent to lab to see if it is pre-cancerous), and the doctor identified internal hemorrhoids. Which is what caused the bleeding I experienced. So, good news. As long as the polyp checks out as non-cancerous....I don't have to have another colonoscopy for 10 years. (I will include a scan of the colonoscopy results as soon as I get to a scanner.)

I crapped early the next morning, but it was loose. No pic.

  1. It seemed like your blood was from hems to me but I'm not a dr so I would always recommend a professional. But yea it's bright red and on the poo. Had this happen a while back myself. Usually I'd get this if I held it too long. I still have hems but I've increased my fiber so I don't seem to have the same problems. Your blog is a testament to how varied things can be day to day and still be in the realm of "normal". Some days they are champs and other days they are weird, loose, start solid and end loose, fuzzy, full of food, Flumkets, phloogles, glamorts, or quibbledroogs. Good luck with the polyp biopsy!

  2. David...thanks for the comment. I'm committed to blogging about my "quibbledroogs" for the foreseeable future.

    1. I was 47 when I had my first colonoscopy. The American Cancer Society recommends people with an average risk for colon be cancer get regular colonoscopies starting at the 45. This is a change from last year. The age used to be age 50, and I actually got my first colonoscopy a little early based on the fact my grandfather had had colon cancer. So it's a little confusing.
